Crested gecko eating dirt?

I keep seeing him with mouthfulls of dirt. He might be swallowing it but I'm not sure. Will he be ok? Why is he doing this?

i've noticed when I hold my ball pythons that all 3 of them seem attracted to the color red whether its the pillow case, a t-shirt, or a pair of pants. They all gravitate towards the red color. Can they see the darkness of red or can they actually see color?

I had a chameleon and let it go into the wilderness for a better life but sometimes I still picture him crawling around?

My bf's baby bearded dragons (1 mo and 4mos) were left exposed to sunlight for about 20 minutes.. after that when he came back, one of them died and the other is still breathing but it seemed that he had a really really bad sunburn! He barely moves and his skin is a stiff! We immersed his half body in a shallow basin of water..

Help! Can he still make it?? What can we do??

can i use a human heating pad for a ball python?

okay so i have a 100 qt. sterilite tub and reptile heating pads get way too hot. so can i use a good human heating pad from WALMART or something.

PS: i am not asking this because i want to go the cheap way. zoo med heating pads get way to hot. and i don't want to burn the snake or melt the plastic.

Ball Python Growling Like A Dog?

So, Ralph was perfectly fine and I had handled him earlier this evening. All of a sudden I heard a strange growling noise (Like an angry dog). I checked in his vivarium and Ralph was striking at the thermometer, which is kept in the vivarium, and looked very angry. He made a lot of loud growling sounds. I was wondering what could have caused him to be so angry and make such strange noises. He has done a poop but I wouldnt have thought that would have made him so vicious. Thanks in Advance

The other night I have cuddling my beardie and she was getting very relaxed and enjoying herself a lot. I had my palm across her back with my thumb and fingers on either side of her stomach underneath her armpits. I was using the thumb and forefinger of my other hand to stroke the top of her head and underside of her chin simultaneously. After a few seconds of this she, without opening her mouth uttered a type of cooing noise that I had never heard from her before. Has this ever happened before? Or am I going insane :P

Bearded dragon Pine wood enclosure?

I just read that pine wood is toxic to bearded dragons? Where is this information from? I just built a cage out of pine for my bearded dragon and then put water based poly to seal it. He has been in there for 3 days, and seems to be fine. Any comments on this??

Is it bad that my turtle is missing some claws? Do I need to take him to the vet?

He's a young (~5 inches) red-eared slider. He's missing 3 claws on one foot, 2 on the other and 1 on his front foot. The other front foot is fine. We've had him for two weeks. My gf got him from Petco where she works. He was dropped off by someone who didn't want him anymore. At Petco, he was put into a tank with 8 large turtles. That may have been when he lost those claws. We keep him in a 5 gal. tank by himself now. We just noticed this tonite. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but I'm no turtle expert. He's eating (goldfish and pellets) and swimming fine. He's pretty active and feisty when we handle him. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can my Leopard Gecko eat grasshoppers?

The pet shop is selling grasshoppers, small ones anyways. Are they just as nutritious as crickets? I'd like to feed her a variety but the crickets keep escaping and chewing through her polystyrene walls. If the grasshoppers are less nutritious than the mealworms and/or crickets then i'll only get them her every week instead.
