i've noticed when I hold my ball pythons that all 3 of them seem attracted to the color red whether its the pillow case, a t-shirt, or a pair of pants. They all gravitate towards the red color. Can they see the darkness of red or can they actually see color?
snakes like ALL predatory animals have excellent eye site they can even see things you cant ,like into the inferred spectrum like a python, or into the uv spectrum like a rattler or most colubrid snakes . all snakes have cones and rods in their eyes which means they DO see color. how much color they see is a good question but hey id trade in a little color vision for inferred vision any day.
